Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this question has been covered I can't get search to work for me.
We just picked up our (new to us) 2015 Everest Ambiente.
It came with 285/70/r17 General Grabber x3 Red Letters on but the spare is the original 265 underneath.
If I get a spare the same size as the x3's, do you know if they will fit underneath in the spare location?
Thanks, Tim

My 275/70R17 BFG KO2 fits in the spare with 40psi, it's a pretty close queeze. The 285/70R17 might fit when it's deflated fully or at a lower psi (e.g. 10psi or so) Cheers, Jcridd

I might be wrong, but I would think the dealer should pay for the tyre as well, given it's not legal to have different tyre sizes.. (Tis a little naughty of whoever owned it before tas well - when i upgraded the tyres I also did the spare (despite the cost) to make sure the car would remain safe to operate if i needed to do a tyre change) If someone else knows more about the legalities, please feel free to clue me up

We actually asked about that, supposedly it's not illegal to have an incorrect spare - according to the Ford Dealership. They actually put the tyres on to sell it faster (it worked on us, I guess).

We had the same from our dealer. 285/65 Nitto Terra Grapplers installed, but the standard tyre is still underneath. What is interesting is I watched a video by John Cadogan tonight about incorrect tyres on 4wd/AWD vehicles, issues with transmission failing and warranty not being valid. Not sure whether it affects the Everest's system, but worthwhile noting that it could have an impact. youtu.be/EV5cwcABRD4Might get myself a bigger spare... hopefully it will fit.

Hello Timi, You can jack a wheel up, take it off and see if it winds up into the wheel well... Let us know how it goes.

If you are offroading why would keep a road tyre as spare? If just for show then I can sort of understand it.

I recently upgraded my rims to 9.5*20 p30 with 285*55*20 Monsta Terrain Grippers and have to fully deflate it to get it to fit. Having a permanent air compressor installed with a second battery but have to carry a compressor. You can't run a different tyre as your spare being constant 4wd as you will stuff the diff when you need it.

My 285/70/R17 'Toyo Open Country R/T' wheels fits in spare tyre spot. No worries.

Can you fit 285/70/r17 on Everest Trend without lift?
