My 2019 Everest trend has an alarm “tailgate open” but it is latched closed. It will not open by the remote key, the button inside or at the tailgate. The car thinks it’s already open. A few weeks ago the opposite occurred where it was open and wouldn’t close. I manually closed it and it’s been fine till this. Any ideas on how to reset it?

I've had this happen a couple of times...my best guess is that a sequence of button pushes confuses the system and it stops wherever it is...I have had success closing the boot manually lock the car and start again...may be best to let your dealer know at next service or ring them...let me know how you go 👍

My 2019 Everest Trend tailgate would not open, whether I used the key fob button, the tailgate button on the dash or the button outside on the tailgate. There was no usual audible sound to suggest that it was trying to open. Just quiet. I turned the car on and off to reset the system to no avail. I checked the fuses by physically removing fuse number 10 to see if the powered tailgate fuse had blown. It hadn't, so I replaced it and checked the key fob button. The tailgate opened! Perhaps a system reset by removing the fuse.

Seems that there is a current (Jul 22) recall notice for software and the tailgate. I have a 2016 model, and am affected.
