I have a 2018 everest, less then 5000km and less than 6 months old. I took it for it's first off road venture today. 4km into the journey (rutted gravel, moderate incline) the car lost all power and the coolant temperature warning light came on. The engine was running but no response from the accelerator (stopped dead). I turned the car off and waited 10mins, the car continued a few hundred meters and the problem happened again. It continued to happen so we turned the car around and went home. No issues at all driving down hill and on bitumen undulating country on the way home. This seems to be a dangerous fault. We weren't towing anything and the coolant levels were fine. Has anybody experienced this or have any idea what the cause could be? Any advice would be appreciated

This is an alarming post. I’ve read on the Facebook site about cars going into limp mode while towing in high temps with bullbars. This is the first post for limp mode in the bush. I’m about to buy a bi turbo 2019 Trend, but now I’m not so sure. Did you find a cause? Do the bi turbos have the same limp mode issue as the 3.2?

I would not be to hasty to write of a model because of one issue with one car out of thousands. Many other makes and models have rare major issues too.

A friend had a similar problem with his Ranger. It turned out to be a broken wire in a wiring loom in the engine bay. His local dealer in Vic had seen this issue previously and knew what to do. He put his vehicle in and the dealer tested and proved there was a broken wire somewhere in the wiring loom, but couldn't find the break. The dealer ordered a new wiring loom which took a number of days to arrive at his workshop. The new wiring loom was fitted and tested and all was OK. The work was carried out under warranty. His Ranger was in the workshop for about a week getting this done.
